Maybe in 20 years we will see a D3 remaster with gamepad support added. I doubt the bean counters in their back offices would allow it for D3, because the potential for increased sales as a result of that update just aren’t likely to be there. But they were able to justify that via the increased sales potential of the remaster. This shows that Blizzard has the capacity to implement this, even on a decades old game.

I can’t tell you how overjoyed I was to see D2R support gamepad, and it does so quite intelligently. Not everyone has the living space/desk to be able to use M&K. Or, just implement the same controller support from the console versions into D3, and I will happily play again (no need for the roll/dodge thing or whatever though). You will inevitably be referred to buying a console, which personally I don’t intend to do, as there are plenty of alternate PC ARPG titles that do support controllers (it has become standard, leaving Blizzard and D3 in the stoneage). Implement the same controller support from D2R into D3, and I will happily play D3 again. Gamepad support mitigates this drastically.īut this isn’t profitable, so the idea has been quashed since the beginning. There is a surprising number of people I know, including myself, who have to severely limit their playtime on Diablo 2/3 due to tendon strain.

It’s a question of their commitment to accessibility, which clearly is not a factor.
